It's Wedding Season!

Today I'm joining in all the wedding talk fun.  I mean seriously.  Who doesn't enjoy gabbing about their big day?!

Brunch:  When my friend Lindsey got married I remember gushing to my mom about how awesome her wedding day brunch was and how I would love it if we could do something like that when I got married.  Fun place, fun music, fun food and drinks, getting ready, parrrty!  My aunt came through for me and hosted a bash to remember.

My aunt scored a party barge on Lake Texoma for the bash.

Wedding day mimosas!

My Aunt "T" and cousin Tiffany on the far right hosted the event.  It was awesome!  My mom, mother-in-law, bridesmaids, other women friends and family, my hairdresser and our photographers were all there taking part in the fun and helping us get ready.  It was fabulous!

Location: We wanted to get married outside at a location where we could have the ceremony and then walk right inside to the reception.  We got married at a golf course looking out onto the course and then turned around to party down in the clubhouse.  It was perfect, except it was June 12 and a hot Oklahoma summer.

Bridal Party: Three sounded like a good number I guess???  So I had three bridesmaids and Bill had three groomsmen.  I chose my best friend that I've known my entire life, my sister, and my best friend from college.  My niece was our flower girl.  Bill chose his best buddies from high school and college.  He doesn't have any brothers or sisters.

Colors:  My original plan was to have a bright summery orange and platinum (dark silverish) because I saw it paired together in a bridal magazine and loved it.  When it came down to the details of ordering stuff, nobody had platinum, and if they did they wanted an arm, leg, and first born to pay for it.  So we ended up with white, black, and orange.  It screamed OSU, and we're die hard Sooners.  Weird???

First Dance:  We had our DJ announce our bridal party into the reception after we were finished with pictures and they all took a little spin on the dance floor when they were announced.  We were announced last and came in and danced to "Pickn' Wildflowers" by Keith Anderson.  That's been our song since before there was even an official us.  I wrote a post about it here.  It wasn't a typical first dance song at all, but no other song seemed to fit or mean as much to us.

Father/Daughter Dance:  My dad and I danced to "I Loved Her First" by Heartland.  I cried on his shoulder that night and I cry again every single time I hear it.  It's so sweet.  A few weeks before the wedding we practiced dancing in my parents' garage.  Me in my t-shirt, shorts and wedding shoes, dad in t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops.  I still laugh when I think about that.  What a mess.

You can't see it here, but my dad had already untucked his shirt and ditched his dress shoes.  You've got to be comfy!

Cake:  The wedding cake nearly fell over.  A fun fact I didn't hear about until weeks later.  I don't remember what it tasted like because I spent the majority of my time with it picking it out of my nose. :)  Bill's cake had a picture of Jeff Gordon's race car.  Yep, we're those people.  He loves his nascar!

Reception: We had snacky foods for everyone since it was a late wedding.  I don't remember eating but everyone said it was good.  We danced and drank and we're married!  It was fun!

My dress had pockets!

Details:  Here are some random pictures.

The hankie/cap under my rings was the baby cap Bill wore home from the hospital.
If he was a girl he was supposed to carry it as his something old on his wedding day.
Since he's a dude, he gave it to me so I could carry it as my something old.  So sweet.

Instead of unity sand or a unity candle, whe put together a unity cross.  It almost didn't happen folks!
It sits on our mantle now.

That face...

It's super hard to see everyone, but here we are.  Us with all our guests!

Honeymoon:  We left that night in Bill's mom's car to spend a classy first night at the casino hotel.  The next morning we (missed our first flight) left for LasVegas to be pool side for a week at Mandalay Bay.  We had a blast.

Can you guess what's in that gift bag?

I know I put a lot of pictures in, but I love them all so much.  I'm so thankful that we had a great photographer.  If you're interested in her, check out her out!  Kristina Gaines Photography

Do over?  If I had to do it over again I would tone up my arms.  I hate most of the pictures with me in them because they look like giant turkey legs.  I would also have picked more summery colors.  We looked nice in all that black, but it was June!  The whole wedding process was fun, a little stressful, but a great bonding experience for my mom, sister, and I.  I wish it hadn't been so expensive, but weddings are.  I wish it would've lasted longer, but they never do.  I would never want to give up our big wedding, but if we renew, it'll be low key for sure, and I won't regret how I'll look in pictures.

That was our wedding!  I can't wait to read about y'alls!

I'm out!
